How do I use a dynamic IP address when the Host PC is connected to a Router? |
| |
|
| |
A router allocates the IP address dynamically to the Host PCs and L Series Stations if DHCP is enabled. Users do not need to set the IP address. On the terminal, set the network configuration to dynamic IP address in the set up window. |
| |
|
|
| 2. |
If a router/hub is connected to the Host PC, how do I connect a L series to the Host PC with a static IP address? |
| |
|
| |
You must allocate a static IP address to the Host PC and the L Series Station. Contact your network administrator for assistance with this.

I am not connected and a screen displays the "DHCP server was not found" message. |
| |
|
| |
L130/L230 Station is set to get the IP address dynamically. If you enter the setup screen of the terminal by pressing Setup, you can check in the Network tab and make sure that the "Get Dynamic IP Address" option is selected. To use this option the router has to have DHCP server functionality activated. If you do not have a router, you must configure a static IP, or install a DHCP server on your network.
Be sure that there is no firewall or antivirus program blocking the client from connecting to the host PC.

When I am connected to the Host PC by pressing the Connect button, the "Host unreachable..." message appears and I can't connect. |
| |
|
| |
If the terminal cannot communicate with the host PC, this message appears. Check whether the Host PC is turned on. If it is turned on, check whether the IP address of Host PC and the Terminal server IP address of L130/L230 are the same. You can check the IP address of the Host PC by running the ipconfig command in the command line of the DOS prompt. Also, check the LAN cable connection.
If you are using a hub or a router, check whether the hub or router is turned on and check the LAN cable connection. If the L130/L230 is directly connected to a Host PC and there is no problem with the network connection, refer to the following steps: START -> Control Panel ->Network Connections -> Local Area Connection -> Properties -> Advanced Tab. If Internet Connection Firewall is checked, click the Settings. Turn the firewall off.
If you use a certain firewall program that blocks the outer connection, you can't use your L130/L230. Turn off the L130/L230 and wait several seconds, and then turn it on. Check to make sure that any third party Antivirus, Firewall, or security related programs do not interfere with our software. Please disable these programs before the initial setup.

VSpace software is displaying a “win32k.sys” error bubble when I start Windows. What is this? |
| |
|
| |
This error may be encountered from time to time after a windows security patch update. This error is harmless and can be closed on the host PC with no issue. It will not display on the client terminals.

Can I use a 10Mbps LAN adapter on an old dummy hub? |
| |
|
| |
L130/L230 is designed for 100 Mbps switches or routers. If you use a 10 Mbps LAN adapter or an old dummy hub, the transfer speed of the data is lowered and the performance of the system is reduced. The use of a 10 Mbps adapter or an old dummy hub is not recommended.

I want to upgrade the speed of the L130/L230. |
| |
|
| |
You may increase its speed:
1) Use a CPU which utilizes Hyper-Threading technologies and large L2 Cache memory size.
2) Install more RAM.
3) Purchase a new hard disk drive with faster access speeds (fast rpm).
4) A second network adapter on the host PC can help to speed up the way the devices communicate to the host PC.
5) Reduce the number of L Series connection to Host PC by adding more Host PCs to connect additional terminals to.

What to do with this error Message: No Terminal Server found or not all services initialized yet, please click on the connection list and try it again? |
| |
|
| |
Check the status of Vspace to ensure it is running on the host PC. Check all connections and be sure that an IP address has been properly assigned. Try to ping the client IP address from the host PC to check connectivity.

A message pops up saying that my terminals are not registered and are in trial mode. |
| |
|
| |
Please run the Vspace registration utility on the host PC. This should register all terminal serial numbers connected to that host PC.

|
| |
|
|
| 12. |
Can the user select from multiple hosts for connection? |
| |
|
| |
Yes, if more than one host exists in the network, the user can select one of them for connection. This is useful for mission critical application where a redundancy host PC can be used during the down time of a host PC.
